Fairplay is an international arts and culture consultancy founded by Anlam de Coster Arslanoglu.

 

We provide strategic advisory across arts and design for cultural institutions, corporations and creatives. Our services include curating and managing exhibitions and events; developing VIP, public and press relations strategies; content creation; digital transformation and fundraising.

  • Developed and implemented the local and international VIP strategy of the fair's third edition

  • Acted as the main point of contact for collectors, museum groups, and art world professionals

  • Cultivated and expanded the fair's network among key local and international audiences; represented the fair in Istanbul and at international art fairs and openings 

  • Managed a team of six regional VIP representatives internationally

  • Devised an engaging program of events for VIPs, galleries and international press encompassing a Gala Dinner, private parties, dinners at collector homes, guided tours at museums, studio visits and gallery walks

  • Organized the VIP Brunch, Preview, and Vernissage of the fair (attended by 8.500 guests in total)

  • Carried out all aspects of the execution of the VIP Program including logistics, hospitality, guest-lists, RSVPs

  • Secured partnerships with hotels (e.g. St Regis), brands (e.g. Jaguar), and venues (e.g. Soho House) with the Director of Marketing to deliver a high caliber program at minimal cost

  • Advised international galleries (80% of total participants) about their programs to be showcased at the fair; introduced local and international galleries to collectors, museums, advisors, and press

  • Led the development of the VIP section of the website and database systems

  • Prepared newsletters and press releases in collaboration with the PR agency 

  • Oversaw the design and delivery of digital and printed material such as VIP packs and invitations  

  • Managed the department's budget 

  • Hired and trained a team of 15 on-site volunteers during the fair

  • Coordinated a cocktail reception co-hosted with Leila Heller Gallery New York followed by a private dinner at the home of artists Shirin Neshat and Shoja Azari during Armory Show 2016

 

Istanbul Museum of Modern Art

Curatorial Projects Manager

2013 - 2015 

 

  • Worked with the Director and the Curator of the Museum and managed the conception, planning and production of exhibitions, public programs as well as special projects

  • Delivered three big scale exhibitions on time and on budget during the 2013-2014 season: "'Neighbors" (35 artists from 17 countries including Slavs and Tatars and Hayv Kahraman), "Plurivocality" (17 artists from Turkey including Cevdet Erek and Hussein Chalayan) and "One Hundred Years of Love", an archival exhibition exploring the relationship between Turkish cinema and its audiences

  • Programmed and coordinated Istanbul Modern's 10th anniversary special projects, including a site-specific commission from Sarkis

  • Organized a series of 8 talks with the directors of leading UK museums such as Tate Modern or Turner Contemporary in partnership with the British Council

  • Conceived a platform to bring contemporary artists and designers with craftsmen to reinterpret and revive extinct Turkish crafts and secured funding for the project from Istanbul Development Agency 

  • Prepared budget projections, established timelines, delivered reports and monitored cross-departmental project teams

  • Generated critical funding for exhibitions and special projects from local and international public funds  

  • Acted as liaison between Istanbul Modern and artists, architects, designers, and other third parties

  • Wrote and edited press releases and marketing material 

 

SALT, ISTANBUL

Development Manager 

2011 - 2013 

 

  • Built the development infrastructure and strategy as the inaugural development manager

  • Established partnerships with regional and international corporate sponsors, foundations and public funds

  • Managed legal and financial sponsorship processes and prepared reports 

  • Generated income via corporate space rental (Delivered 90 special events in 1,5 years)

  • Coordinated SALT's relations with its restaurant and bookstore

  • Cultivated institutional relations with different local and international constituents

  • Prospected for large scale exhibitions such as Hussein Chalayan and Jean-Paul Goude: created sponsorship kits and proposals, solicited different constituents, and prepared sponsorship agreements 

  • Managed stewardship and follow-up of ongoing sponsors of the museum

  • Developed the Partners' Club with new members and renewals

  • Organized monthly Partners' Club events

  • Restructured the Corporate Sponsorship section of the institutional website 

  • Acted as intermediary between sponsors, the museum's different departments and artists

  • Introduced new development and management tools

 

IKSV & Institut Français  

Coordinator of the Turkish Year in France

(Saison de la Turquie en France)

2009 - 2010 

 

650 artistic, cultural, economic and academic events were held throughout 150 French cities from July 1, 2009 to March 31, 2010 under the auspices of both countries Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Culture 

 

  • As the only Turkish coordinator working in France, led all aspects of the rich program of the Season including the coordination of major events such as the “From Byzantium to Istanbul - One port for two continents” exhibition at the Grand Palais, and “Sarkis-Passages” exhibition at the Centre Pompidou

  • Developed the program, executed the production, and monitored the budget (€30M) of the Season across various disciplines: contemporary art, architecture, design, cultural heritage, classical music, jazz, cinema, contemporary dance, theater, literature, academic debates, and diplomatic exchanges

  • Managed press, diplomatic and public relations

  • Acted as the main liaison between Turkish and French organizers, ministries, embassies as well as cultural, academic and economic institutions, artists and other participants
